This service is currently unavailable...
St Martin's is currently in Pastoral vacancy and being led by a loving lay team, however, although Sunday services continue - and we can arrange for a visiting Pastor to lead a wedding ceremony - we have no one to run a marriage course at this time.
The Marriage Course
The Marriage Course was started at Holy Trinity Brompton, London, in 1996. First published in 2001, the second edition of the course was produced on DVD with updated manuals in 2009.
Who is it for?
The course is for any married or cohabiting couple, whether they've been together for on year or sixty-one years, whether they have a good relationship or are struggling. The practical tools of the course are applicable to everyone.
Explain the course to me...
The course is made up of seven (2 hours) sessions with The Marriage Course Party at the end. Each session includes light refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere. Creating a great atmosphere is an important part of the course, as is the assurance that there are no group discussions. Many people would be put off coming to a course if they thought they might have to share intimate details of their relationship with other people (or if they thought their partner might be given the opportunity to share intimate details of their relationship with other people!).
After guests are welcomed, any noticed will be given and we will do a quick review of the last session. We then view the DVD talks. During each session there are breaks in the talks to give the couples an opportunity to discuss some of the issues that have been raised. The couples are spread far enough apart, and background music is played, to ensure their discussions are not overheard.

How much does it cost for a couple to attend?
The cost of the course is $100 for a couple. This cost includes participation in the course, light refreshments, a guest manual for each person, and a copy of 'The Marriage Book' by Nicky and Sila Lee.
Is child care available?
It is our hope that we will be able to provide child care with blue card registered carers for parents with children.
