Worship & Services
Worship is at the heart of our life together at St Martins. Whether we come in joy or struggle, we gather as God's people to listen, pray, sing, and be renewed by His grace.
Something sacred happens when we meet in Jesus’ name. He promises to be present with us - and in worship, we receive His gifts of forgiveness, hope, and new life. Each Sunday, we come together not only to remember Christ’s resurrection, but to encounter Him in Word and Sacrament.
Worship connects us - to God and to each other. It strengthens us to love as Christ first loved us and to serve a world in need. As we honour the command to keep the Sabbath holy, we gladly gather to hear God’s Word, give thanks, and be sent out again in faith.
All are welcome to join us - no matter your background or where you are on your faith journey.

About Worship at St Martins:
Our Sunday worship with Holy Communion is central to the life of our congregation. It’s the one time during the week when we all come together to be nourished by God’s Word and Sacraments. Worship is both a celebration and a comfort - a moment to receive, and a chance to support others in faith.
The heart of our service is:
The proclamation of God’s Word.
The sharing of Holy Communion.

Both are centred on the Good News of Jesus Christ, offering forgiveness, hope, and purpose. We believe that weekly worship is essential in the life of a believer - a time like no other when we are strengthened to go out and live God's calling in our everyday lives.

Holy Communion
If you're visiting from another Christian tradition and wondering if you may take Communion, please know that you're welcome. At St Martins, the only requirements are:
That you have been baptised.
That you believe that Jesus died to forgive your sins.
We gather around the Lord’s Table in faith, trusting in His promise of grace for all.

Children’s Ministry
Children are a valued part of our church family and are warmly included in worship.
Children may remain seated with their parents or can choose to use the children’s activity table at the rear of the Chapel. At the activity table we provide colouring materials and simple sheets or puzzles that reflect the theme of the day (or recent themes). Whether with family or at the table, children are to be supervised by their parents.
A children’s message is shared during worship whenever children are present, and often when they are not. We also encourage children to come to the altar to receive a blessing during
Holy Communion.
We recognise children as unique individuals and adhere to the LCA’s Child Safety Standards, which can be found here:

Women’s Ministry
At St Martin’s, women have been gathering in faith and friendship for generations through our Ladies Fellowship. Meeting once a month in one another’s homes, the group shares in Bible study, prayer, and warm fellowship.
The Ladies Fellowship also has a heart for giving. Their fundraising efforts have supported religious education programs in Gladstone schools and helped send birthing kits to Papua New Guinea - part of a wider Lutheran Women of Australia and LCA International Mission initiative.
Many of our women are also active beyond our congregation, serving as leaders in the Central Queensland Zone, Lutheran Women of Queensland (LWQ), and Lutheran Women of Australia (LWA), and regularly attending rallies and conventions near and far.

Baptism & Confirmation
Baptism
Baptism is a beautiful gift of God - an act of grace where we are welcomed into His family and marked with His promise of new life. Whether for an infant, child, or adult, baptism is a public declaration of faith and God's commitment to us.
At St Martins, we celebrate baptism as a central part of our faith journey, and we’d love to walk with you as you consider this important step. If you’re exploring baptism for yourself or your child, Pastor Geoff is happy to meet and talk it through.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a time of deeper learning and reflection for those who’ve been baptised, often as children, and now wish to personally affirm their faith. It’s an opportunity to explore what we believe as Lutherans, grow in relationship with God, and take greater ownership of your journey in the church.
Our confirmation program is usually offered for young people but can be adapted for adults. It involves learning about Scripture, the sacraments, prayer, and Christian living in a supportive and interactive setting.

We’d love to hear from you. Reach out to us and we’ll be in touch to talk about next steps.
